Actor David Henrie will be speaking at the Southwest Catholic Youth Conference (SWCYC) on Saturday September 15th at the Farmington Civic Center. The SWCYC aims to "Awaken, and strengthen the Catholic youth of the Southwest by promoting the virtue of chastity, and celebrating the gift of the Catholic faith."
"This is the first time the Southwest has ever had anything like this for the Catholic youth here and I wanted to be a part of it," remarked Henrie, a practicing Catholic who is best known for playing Ted Mosby's future son on How I Met Your Mother, Justin Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place, and Larry on That's So Raven.

Headlining the SWCYC is renowned Catholic author and speaker Jason Evert. "We live in a society that is now coming to grips with the consequences of the so called sexual revolution. Chastity is not saying NO to sex, but saying YES to purity. Statistics show us that more and more teens are choosing to save sex until marriage thanks to events like the SWCYC," explained Evert, speaker to over 100,000 teens a year in Catholic, Christian, and Public Schools. Evert is the author of more than ten books, including How to Find Your Soulmate Without Losing Your Soul, and Theology of the Body for Teens.
The sponsor of the event is Durango based LifeGuard, who offers help to women in crisis pregnancy, free ultrasounds, and publicly advocates through education for the legal recognition of the Personhood of the preborn child.
SWCYC will also feature speaker and author Chris Stefanick, recording artist Danielle Rose, worship leader Simon Gerard Cordero, as well as Bishop Fernando Isern of the Diocese of Pueblo, and Bishop James Wall of the Diocese of Gallup.
Over 600 teens are expected.
"The SWCYC will be an all day celebration of the Catholic faith. We will have amazing speakers, Mass, Confession, and we will conclude with Eucharistic Adoration," stated LifeGuard Director Dan Anguis. "We are honored to feature such incredible talents and to have the support of the Bishops."
