North India Church Destroyed by 1,000-Strong Mob

Shouting religious slogans, a mob estimated at 1,000 people has destroyed a Christian church under construction in northern India, according to a report received from church leaders in the region. The attack occurred Aug. 25.

With the building demolished, the mob began to beat the pastor, his mother and church members, who were able to flee and went into hiding for the night. The extent of their injuries is not known. No deaths were reported. "It is our desire that these who are persecuting will know the love of God for them," said K. P. Yohannan, Gospel for Asia (GFA) founder and president.

Despite Death Threats, Blasphemy Charges, Youngren Gospel Festival Reaches Thousands

Last week’s gospel festival in Makassar, Indonesia, was planned as an outreach to the 2.6 million-strong Makassar people with less than 500 believers. No one could have predicted the outcome—capacity crowds, amazing healings, death threats and on the last day Peter Youngren being called to the police headquarters to be interrogated for ‘blasphemy against Islam,’ a crime that carries a five-year prison sentence.

After pressure from Muslim extremists and with only one day to go until the festival, the city mayor canceled the permit for the event to be held on the huge open grounds in the center of the city. It seemed that all was lost, but God had other plans.

“In spite of everything that happened, this has been one of the most amazing weeks in 30 years of gospel ministry because of how God turned this around,” Youngren says.

The Youngren ministry has conducted 26 gospel festivals in Indonesia since the year 2000, and only twice has a stadium or outdoor venue been canceled due to security reasons.

Only France Stands With U.S. Against Syria

The United States found itself with only one major partner — France — in its plans to strike Syria over its alleged use of chemical weapons, after its staunchest ally Britain had to beg off following a stunning rejection of military force by Parliament.

The collapse of support puts pressure on President Barack Obama as resistance to the mission grows at home — and comes with the irony that Paris was the most vocal critic of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

French President Francois Hollande pledged backing Friday for Obama's plans to hit the Damascus regime.

"The chemical massacre of Damascus cannot and must not remain unpunished," Hollande said in an interview with the newspaper Le Monde, published Friday, as U.N. experts in Damascus began what is expected to be the last day of their probe into the alleged attack.

Billy Ray Cyrus, the country music star and father of the misguided youth, was probably sick to his stomach watching his baby girl simulate masturbation in front of the masses. Billy Ray was scheduled to do an interview with Piers Morgan to discuss the incident but bailed out, probably still speechless and sipping on Pepto-Bismol.

House Speaker Presses Obama for Answers on Syria

House Speaker John Boehner called on President Barack Obama on Wednesday to deliver a specific rationale for using U.S. military force against Syria as a growing number of congressional Republicans and Democrats expressed concerns about war with a Mideast nation roiled by civil conflict.

In a letter to the president, the Ohio Republican underscored that he has been supportive of administration policy to date as Obama has called for Syrian President Bashar Assad to resign and insisted that the use of deadly chemical weapons would be a gross violation of international norms.

Sex Exploitation Shuts Down Hotel Porn

Morality in Media praises Scandinavian hotel chain The Nordic Choice, which announced the end of pornography in their 171 locations to stem child sex trafficking and sexual exploitation.

Petter Stordalen, owner of The Nordic Choice hotel chain, decided to act after working with Unicef’s campaign to help child victims of trafficking and sexual exploitation. Stordalen said, “The porn industry contributes to trafficking, so I see it as a natural part of having a social responsibility to send out a clear signal that Nordic Hotels doesn’t support or condone this.”

You Can't Out-Give God

David and Cate Dyck just bought land in East St. Paul, a rural municipality north of Winnipeg. They are excited to build a new house and move away from their South Osborne home so that their sons, Lincoln and Makai, can attend a school with a German bilingual program. Building a new house is a big financial commitment, but one thing the Dycks know for sure is that it won't affect their charitable donation habits.

"We're excited about [the new house], but it won't change how we give," says David, 29.

He and Cate both grew up in homes where giving away at least the first 10 per cent of one's income to church was expected. Both were also taught to go above and beyond that and donate to other causes as well.

Christians, Muslims Join Forces to Fight Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt

In Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood has promised retaliation against the actions of the Egyptian government and vows there will be much bloodshed. The Muslim Brotherhood has burned 70 churches in the last week. In addition, more than 1,000 people have died, and the families of XploreNations Bible College students were tortured.

Some have called the uprising that took place in June a coup. It was not that at all, but rather a demand to get rid of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood has been portrayed by the media as a group of peaceful protesters. The truth is that the Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist party connected to al-Qaida and jihad groups. During the Muslim Brotherhood presidential period, Egypt's resources were directed to Gaza to serve people there while the Egyptians suffered.
