As Christians around the world prepare to celebrate Christmas, some North Korean defectors remind us about the reason for the season. Attendees of Seoul USA's Underground University recently performed a unique North Korean-style dramatization of the Nativity story.
"These students developed and acted in the play which was performed during Underground University graduation ceremonies," explained Seoul USA's Eric Foley. "It was fascinating to witness their unique interpretation of the traditional Bible account of the birth of Christ."

Underground University is Seoul USA's one-year study program for North Korean defectors, equipping them to serve as missionaries wherever North Koreans are found-from Russia to China to South Korea to North Korea itself.
Video of the UU Nativity play is available for viewing on the Seoul USA web site and on YouTube. It is the first known video of the Christmas story developed and performed by North Korean Christians.
"This is a heartfelt, unique portrayal that not only reminds us why we celebrate Christmas, but it also helps us understand that we should emulate persecuted North Korean Christians for their unshakeable commitment to Christ rather than pity them for the suffering they've been forced to endure," said Foley.
Seoul USA is nearing the culmination of its 100 Days of Prayer campaign--a global effort led by North Korean Christians to worship every day for 100 days in common public places.
The campaign features the four pillars of the North Korean Church:
* The Apostles Creed
* The Ten Commandments
* The Lord's Prayer
* The Lord's Supper
The 100 Days campaign concludes December 31st.
