Over the last 2 years serving in this ministry I have had the honor to meet and witness the lives of many spiritual people. People who have endured hardship and come out of the fires of tribulation stronger and closer to God than when they began. Jim Kane I count as one of the strongest of these. Today marks the one year anniversary of Jim's death. Jim was not only a man of great spiritual strength and moral fortitude, but also a man who demonstrated that no matter the mistakes or problems in your past, God's grace covers ALL sin.

Below I have included a copy of the original memorial I printed in issue #11 of LHF Magazine. Jim Kane was and shall always be a beloved and remembered: husband, friend, sponsor, son, grandfather and my Dad.

Jim Kane was a spiritual man of great integrity. Through his work with recovering alcoholics, hard work ethic, moral integrity and insane cribbage skills Jim touched and changed many lives throughout the Okanagan Valley. Jim was a loving father, husband and grandfather who will be dearly missed by everyone who knew his name.

Jim Kane was my step-father and indeed the only earthly father I have ever known. For just over 19 years I was blessed to have him as a role model for what a loving husband and father should be like. He cherished his family and shared his hard won wisdom generously, treasuring every moment he had while leading his family and life with gentle strength. God bless and watch over you Dad.

The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18 English Standard Version) The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. "The LORD is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him." The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD. (Lamentations 3:22-26 English Standard Version) For the Lord will not cast off forever, but, though he cause grief, he will have compassion according to the abundance of his steadfast love (Lamentations 3:31-32 English Standard Version)

Dear Lord, Please help us in this time of loss and overwhelming grief. We may not understand why You have called this man to You. But we turn our eyes to You as we seek to find the strength to trust in Your faithfulness. We will wait on You and not despair; We will quietly wait for Your salvation. Our hearts are crushed, but we know that You will not abandon us. Please show us Your compassion, Lord. Help us through the pain so that we will hope in You again. I believe this promise in Your Word to send us fresh mercy each day. Though we can't see past today, we trust Your great love will never fail us. Please wrap Jim in Your loving arms and take him into Your Kingdom. In Jesus name Amen
