“The security forces didn’t only sit back and watch the Copts being assaulted," witnesses continued. "But even fired tear gas at Copts inside the cathedral and are not preventing the attacks coming from outside.”
Dozens of people struggled to breathe because of the continued use of tear gas, as the cathedral’s gates being locked and Copts can’t leave.
At the same time, MB “thugs” were seen climbing to the top of a gas station adjacent to the cathedral and assaulting those inside with stones and birshot.
Echoes of gunshots and empty shells continued to increase in different parts of the St. Mark Cathedral in Abassiya, while women and children entered the Saint Rowais Church to pray.
A number of Copts set fire to some tires inside the Cathedral in order to minimize the impact of the tear gas amidst the uncalled for continuation of firing tear gas inside the cathedral.
