Suspected Islamic militants attacked a Pentecostal church in northwestern Pakistan killing a security guard and shooting at the building before leaving the scene, local officials and Christians told Worthy News. The Assembly of God Church (AoG) in the Swati gate area of Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pukhtunkhawa province, was reportedly attacked early Friday, July 5, amid heightened tensions over minorities in the region.

Justin Bieber pees into mop bucket at NYC nightclub (with video). Brandi Glanville gets drunk, suffers a nip slip and exposes her thong. Nicki Minaj gets a handful at strip club. These are just a few of the gossip-driven headlines that made their way onto top news on Google News this morning. Although these stories call out some of the most troubling celebs in Hollywood, you can find similar stories in American high schools. And why not, since many high schoolers are wallowing in the immoral muck and mire that Hollywood spoonfeeds them 24/7? Consider some of the latest incidents in American high schools. The pastor of Iran's largest Persian speaking Pentecostal church has been "conditionally released" from prison but his congregation in the capital Tehran remains closed, Iranian Christians told Worthy News. Robert Asserian, a key leader at the Central Assemblies of God Church, was taken into custody during a worship service on May 21 as part of a wider crackdown on growing evangelical churches in the country that authorities deem dangerous for the strict Islamic nation, Christians said. Mohabat News, an agency of Iranian Christians and activists, told Worthy News that there is "no clear information on how Pastor Asserian was released." However, "it appears that he was temporarily released on bail on July 2," they said, though the amount was not immediately revealed. His Grace Bishop Angaelos, General Bishop of The Coptic Orthodox Church in the United Kingdom, has announced three days of prayer “for peace, reconciliation and an end to needless violence and loss of life in Egypt,” commencing today and coinciding with the end of the Coptic Orthodox Fast of the Apostles and the beginning of the month of Ramadan. In a media release announcing the prayer days, the Bishop said that “after witnessing millions of Egyptians across the whole nation and from all walks of life standing together to peacefully express their desire for a new Egypt, it is unfortunate that this unified effort is being undermined by needless violence and bloodshed.“ The educational non-profit Online for Life (OFL), which works to rescue babies from abortion so they can live to make their mark on the world, has developed an online letter, ThankWendy.com, to offer a sincere "thank you" to Texas State Sen. Wendy Davis for choosing to bear and raise her own child, even as a young single mom. Davis made national news two weeks ago for her 11-hour filibuster, which prevented a Senate bill prohibiting abortions in Texas after 20-weeks from passing. But before she donned her hot pink sneakers and became a voice for abortion supporters across the nation, Davis was a single mother at age 19. Despite also being raised by a single mother herself, Davis chose life, working hard to provide for child, attend college and eventually graduate Harvard Law School. In the war between life and death, all eyes are on Texas, as the Lone Star State legislature is poised to pass a sweeping late-term abortion ban. Gov. Rick Perry has pledged to sign the bill into law. The lines have been clearly drawn surrounding this progress toward equality and civil rights for pre-born Americans. Not surprisingly, as the pro-abortion side loses legislative battle after legislative battle, its true colors are coming into focus. Those colors are darker than many might have imagined. You know the feeling—you see her coming and you want to turn away. Mary is in your church. Something isn’t quite right with her. Sometimes she seems balanced, lucid and smart. Other times she is really off. She might have strong mood swings, flow in and out of psychotic episodes, or she could have one of dozens of mental illnesses. The bottom line is that you (and most everyone else) feel uncomfortable around her, and with that discomfort comes frustration and sometimes guilt. Faith is the source of light, of guidance for the Christian life. "We walk by faith, not by sight," wrote St Paul. In his highly anticipated first encyclical, The Light of Faith (Lumen Fidei), Pope Francis reflects on the meaning of faith, the beginning of God's gracious salvation and the means by which man encounters the living God through Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit. Ignatius Press is slated to release the encyclical as a high-quality, hardcover, deluxe edition in August, in time for the fall celebrations of the Year of Faith.
