Step One
We Admitted we were powerless over the effects of our separation from God - that our lives had become unmanageable.
For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. Romans 7:18-20

Step Two
We have come to believe that through Jesus Christ we could be restored to a right relationship with God the Father, and subsequent sanity and stability in our lives.
“If you can?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Immediately the boy‟s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Mark 9:23-24

Step Three
Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God and to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. (Romans 12:1 English Standard Version)

Step Four
Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the LORD. Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. (Proverbs 16:2-3 (English Standard Version)
Let us test and examine our ways, and return to the LORD! (Lamentations 3:40 English Standard Version)

Step Five
Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. (James 5:16 New International Version)
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:8-9 New International Version)

Step Six
We are entirely ready to have God remove all of these defects of character.
Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (I Peter 1:13-16 English Standard Version)
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you. (James 4:10 English Standard Version)

Step Seven
Humbly asked God to remove our shortcomings.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 New International Version )
I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. (Psalm 34:4-6 New International Version )

Step Eight
Made a list of all people we had harmed in the commission of our sins, and became willing to make amends to them all.
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. (I Corinthians 13:1-3 English Standard Version)
And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them. (Luke 6:31 English Standard Version)

Step Nine
Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23-24

Step Ten
Continue to take personal inventory of ourselves and when we stubble promptly admit it to God and to ourselves, asking the Lord for forgiveness.
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. Romans 12:3
So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! I Corinthians 10:12

Step Eleven
Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God and to be instilled with the Holy Spirit, praying for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry it out.
Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:5-7)
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. (Colossians 3:16)

Step Twelve
Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to other, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16
Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Galatians 6:1

Dear God,
My spiritual awakening continues to unfold. The help I have received I shall pass on to others. For this opportunity I am grateful. I pray most humbly to continue walking day by day on the road of spiritual progress. I pray for the wisdom to practice the principles of this way of life in all I do and say. I need you in my life every hour of every day! This is a better way to live. In Jesus name, Amen.
