The Center for Egyptian Women’s Legal Assistance condemned the insult and assault of students in a sixth grade primary school. The students were forced to wear the veil in Aqad School in Bolaq, an area of Cairo.
It was reported that the Arabic language teacher said to one of the students, “You will be like the Christians,” if she did not wear the veil.
The center noted a similar incident in Luxor, when a teacher cut the hair of a student because she did not wear the veil.

The center stressed the need to implement the Child’s Rights Agreement that Egypt ratified. They noted the agreement stresses the child’s right to education and not endangering children.
The center demanded to activate child protection committees all over the country in addition to restructuring them to be able to handle their objectives.
“Could Egypt’s Minister of Education prevent such a crime? Could he prevent students from being forced to wear the veil? Could he prevent students from being assaulted in schools? Could he restore the prestige of his ministry and the dignity of the Egyptian students?” the center lamented.
