Two Baptist Universities Join Legal Fight Against Abortion Mandate
Underscoring once again it's not a Catholic-only issue, two Baptist colleges have filed suit against the Obama administration's abortion/contraceptive mandate, saying they're standing up for what Baptists long have defended -- religious freedom.
The Oct. 9 lawsuit by Houston Baptist University and East Texas Baptist University is the 33rd suit against the mandate, which requires employers to provide employee health insurance that covers contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs. |

Rimsha Masih Blasphemy Exoneration a First in Pakistan
Rimsha Masih and her family will remain in Pakistan after her legal ordeal is over, one of her lawyers says.
The teen-aged Pakistani girl, whose arrest in August on suspicion of desecrating Islamic texts, is due to appear in an Islamabad juvenile court Oct. 17. Originally charged in regular court where the potential penalty is life imprisonment, the girl’s case was transferred to the juvenile court after her age was certified and evidence surfaced that she was framed by a local imam. |

Hamilton Couple Charged with Trafficking Teen for Sex
A 27-year-old Hamilton woman and her common-law partner have been charged with trafficking a teenage girl into prostitution.
Nicole Sendecki, 27, and Stephen Ball, 49, who share an apartment on King Street West, were arrested Monday. They are scheduled to appear in court Thursday. |

Non-Christian Prison Chaplains Chopped by Ottawa
The Canadian government is canceling the contracts of all non-Christian chaplains at federal prisons. By next spring, Muslim, Jewish, Sikh and other non-Christian inmates will be expected to turn to Christian prison chaplains for religious counsel and guidance.

25-30 Christian Students Reportedly Massacred at Northern Nigerian Collage
According to Open Doors sources, Boko Haram, an Islamist militant group, invaded the off campus hostel of Federal Polytechnic College in northern Nigeria late Monday, allegedly separated Muslim students from Christians and massacred up to 30 Christian students.
