"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
(Acts 1:8)
(Acts 1:8)
Luke wrote this book to all believers, although the book is specifically addressed to Theophilus. The book of Acts is the only history book in the New Testament. It records events after the ascension of Jesus back to Heaven and the day of Pentecost, including the birth and historical record of the first Church. Acts also covers what Jesus continued to do and teach after His ascension through His spiritual Body, the Church (Acts 1:1-2).
The true evidence of the Holy Spirit is directed power: Power to become witnesses for the purpose of extending the Gospel throughout the world.
