Bahrain
Kingdom of Bahrain - Asia
A group of one larger and 32 smaller barren islands in the Arabian Gulf, between the Qatar peninsula and Saudi Arabian mainland – linked to the latter by a causeway.
Area: 691 sq km
Population: 807, 131
Annual Growth: 2.10%
Capital: Manama
Urbanites: 88.6%
Peoples: 16 (38% unreached) Unreached Peoples Prayer Card
Official language: Arabic
Languages: 12
Largest Religion: Muslim (83.23%) Christians make up 9.81% of the population. This number includes Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, etc. Only 2.9% are Evangelical Christian.
Challenges for Prayer:
Praise God for the local believers. Some are integrated into the various churches; others are in more informal networks. Pray for spiritual growth and especially for unity and cooperation among these groups, as a testimony to their fellow Arabs.
Among the large expatriate community (predominantly from South and East Asia and the Middle East, but also the West and Africa), a considerable number of active Christians meet formally and informally. Pray that expat believers might have courage and wisdom to share their faith outside their cultural group as well as a sense of God’s purpose in bringing them to Bahrain. One area of great potential is in education. The internationalization of education opens many opportunities, since locals prize good education and much schooling is in English. Pray for believing teachers who will be witnesses in their jobs.
