American Family Association (AFA) again appeared before The Home Depot annual shareholders meeting today, asking the company to stop its open support of homosexual activism.
Randy Sharp, director of special projects for AFA, reports that "the American Family Association presented to the Home Depot chairman, the board of directors and the shareholders 254,000 signatures on a petition saying that they were boycotting the Home Depot until it became neutral in the culture war regarding homosexuality."
Those signatures added to ones gathered previously, which now means that about three quarters of a million people are boycotting the firm. Even so, company officials have reconfirmed their pro-homosexual policy.
"We're hopeful that with our presentation, along with the petitions, that The Home Depot management will go back and take another look at how they are becoming involved in a culture war that really has nothing to do with their primary business purpose, which is to sell good products to people to help them make their homes a better place to live," Sharp notes.
In the meantime, says the AFA spokesman, the BoycottTheHomeDepot.com effort will continue.
Despite evidence showing that the national retailer appeared to be pulling back its support of homosexual activism earlier this year, The Home Depot asserted that its policy never changed.
