A seminary affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is honoring the president and board chair of Planned Parenthood for being what it calls "champions for reproductive health care, education and women's health."Auburn Seminary in New York says Cecile Richards and Cecilia Guthrie will be honored Wednesday morning at its annual "Lives of Commitment Benefit Breakfast."
Planned Parenthood provides contraceptives and performs about 300,000 abortions a year.
The seminary says Richards, who serves as president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, will speak about "clergy involvement in social justice and reproductive health."
Planned Parenthood's Clergy Advisory Board actively opposes crisis pregnancy centers that discourage women from having abortions.
