LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O LORD. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy. (Habakkuk 3:2)
The book of Habakkuk was written by Habakkuk to the nation of Judah to awaken them to their spiritual need and warn them of impending judgment from God. This book divides easily into three sections according to chapters.
Habakkuk records a spiritual burden (chapter 1), a vision (chapter 2),
and a prayer (chapter 3), all of which relate to the judgment of Judah
by God through the Chaldean nation.
Habakkuk's statement, "the just shall live by faith," is a primary principle in the book of Habakkuk. This statement is quoted three times in the New Testament. See Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11, and Hebrews 10:38.
