Israel was not supposed to have elections until October 2013, but Netanyahu has decided to move up the date to early next year. He did not set a date, but said it would be "preferable to have as short a campaign as possible."
A U.S.-born Israeli author and former politician says it was a "wise" political move by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to call for early elections in Israel.

As they have for the past 10 years, Christians around the world will gather Sunday to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, as instructed in Psalm 122. Recently, thousands gathered in Jerusalem's largest auditorium to pray before Sunday's main event. They came from many different nations but shared a common goal. Iran’s President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, declared Israel a “fake government” and “uncivilized Zionists” in his speech to the United Nations on Wednesday morning. Speaking of what is wrong with what he called the “current world order,” he condemned the “imposition of a fake government,” Israel, in the Middle East. Just days ago, in preparation for his UN speech, he stated that Israel has “no roots” in the Middle East historically. Trinity Broadcasting Network, the world's largest Christian broadcaster, announced that it has purchased property in Jerusalem where it will build a state-of-the-art studio to produce programming for TBN Shalom and its other global networks. For nearly 40 years TBN has enjoyed a close relationship with the people of Israel, and last year, through its affiliate in Russia, launched the TBN Shalom Network to broadcast Christian programming to the millions of Russian Jews who have returned to Israel over the past 30 years. As Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad prepares to speak at the United Nations, Heart to Heart has released a new video portraying Israel's enemies attacking Jerusalem, its capital. Showing a woman enjoying her morning coffee while watching the news depicting the instability of the Middle East and its threats against Israel, the ominous headlines turn into reality. The ending is every Israeli's worst nightmare.
In Pakistan, tens of thousands turned out to show their anger over the film. Rioters threw rocks and set fire to buildings in some cities, and police fired tear gas and live ammunition to try to subdue them. Three people were killed and dozens were injured. Pakistan's government declared today a holiday so that people could rally against the video. Trinity Broadcasting Network, America's favorite faith-and-family channel, is highlighting the award-winning video documentary The Cross: The Arthur Blessitt Story, produced and directed by TBN Vice President of Administration Matt Crouch, as this month's stewardship and love gift for TBN viewers and partners.
On Christmas Day 1969, Arthur Blessitt, a simple street evangelist sharing the gospel on tough and gritty Sunset Strip in Hollywood, California, began a 3,000-mile hike from the West Coast to Washington, D.C, carrying a 12-foot, 45-pound rugged wooden cross on his back. His only focus was to share with all he met what that cross symbolized: the forgiveness, hope, and healing all can find through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. A small stone seal unearthed in Israel is likely the first archaeological evidence of the Old Testament judge Samson, say the co-directors of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Center for Archaeological Research.
While not involved in the excavation that led to the discovery, center co-directors Daniel Warner and Dennis Cole said evidence characterizing the find makes it plausible that the seal supports a story of a young boy killing a lion with his bare hands. The Associated Press recently reported that 350 North American Jews landed at Ben-Gurion Airport to begin new lives in Israel. More than 4,000 immigrants have arrived in the Holy Land from the United States, Canada and Great Britain this year, at a time when Israel is believed to be preparing for a possible air strike against Iran's nuclear facilities, which could lead to a regional conflict. |
