A new, biblically based organization is rapidly falling into place to provide an alternative to parents and children who were disenfranchised when the Boy Scouts of America opened its gates for homosexual members.

While on a public sidewalk in front of the Centre Court Complex during the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, An American preacher was arrested, fingerprinted, had DNA samples taken and then interrogated, after a woman out shopping called the police to complain that she was offended by what was being said. Tony Miano, a retired Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff who traveled to the UK with Sports Fan Outreach International as part of a mission to bring the Gospel to England, was speaking from 1 Thessalonians which mentions "sexual immorality" and had cited homosexuality alongside "fornication" as examples of what he believed went against "God's law". In the recent Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage reversing the Defense of Marriage Act, dissenting judge Antonin Scalia offered the longest opinion as to why this was a misguided and ominous ruling. Some on the left have tried to present Scalia as a nut case. They talk of his "intemperate dissent." It was passionate, I'll grant you that--all 26 pages of it. He criticizes the verdict as judicial overreach. But most interesting is his statement that Justice Kennedy and his colleagues in the majority have essentially resorted to calling opponents of gay marriage (i.e. those who defend traditional marriage) "enemies of the human race." Scalia does so on the grounds that the ruling itself uses intemperate language, saying those who support DOMA and traditional marriage "disparage," "injure," "degrade," "demean," those who are homosexual. "All that," wrote Scalia, "simply for supporting an Act that did no more than codify an aspect of marriage that had been unquestioned in our society for most of its existence--indeed, had been unquestioned in virtually all societies for virtually all of human history." Some pro-family organizations are rankled at the latest attempt by a liberal media outlet to co-opt two of America's most beloved children's pop culture icons on behalf of the pro-homosexual movement. The Muppets Bert and Ernie, perhaps the most recognized characters of the popular U.S. children's television program Sesame Street, have been used to commemorate last week's landmark Supreme Court rulings on same-sex "marriage." The latest issue of The New Yorker magazine shows the duo cuddling on their sofa as they watch a television featuring members of the United States Supreme Court. The illustration, titled "Moment of Joy," suggests the two characters were joyfully celebrating the recent rulings overturning the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and California's Proposition 8 ban on same-sex marriage. The Supreme Court on Wednesday handed a significant victory to gay rights advocates by recognizing that married gay men and women are eligible for federal benefits and paving the way for same-sex marriage in California. The court, however, fell short of a landmark ruling endorsing a fundamental right for gay people to marry. The two cases, both decided on 5-4 votes, concerned the constitutionality of a key part of a federal law, the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), that denied benefits to same-sex married couples and a California state law enacted in 2008, called Proposition 8, that banned gay marriage. A man in Australia who claims to be neither a man nor a woman has been officially recognized by Australian authorities as “sexless” on his birth certificate. Norrie May-Welby, a British expat, was born a man but had a sex change operation in 1990 when he was 28. However, after becoming unhappy as a woman he opted to become a “neuter.” Robert Tyler, general counsel at Advocates for Faith & Freedom, predicts California Assembly Bill 1266 will pass the state Senate and be signed into law. "What that bill does is further emphasize the right in California of students to claim their own gender identity to use the facilities of their choice, restrooms and locker rooms," Tyler tells OneNewsNow. In a brief statement issued Wednesday, the leader of the Anglican bishops who sit in the House of Lords, said there would be no further organized opposition from them to the government’s “gay marriage” proposal, that Peers passed overwhelmingly on Tuesday evening. “Both Houses of Parliament have now expressed a clear view by large majorities on the principle that there should be legislation to enable same-sex marriages to take place in England and Wales,” said Rt. Rev. Tim Stevens, Bishop of Leicester, the Convenor of the Lords Spiritual. “It is now the duty and responsibility of the Bishops who sit in the House of Lords to recognize the implications of this decision and to join with other Members in the task of considering how this legislation can be put into better shape.” A few weeks ago when I addressed the topic of homosexuality, a reader posted a comment on our forum suggesting that the biblical King David and his friend Jonathan were gay lovers. After a few other readers questioned this interpretation, another reader repeated the claim. “The Bible is clear that David and Jonathan were physical, sexual, gay male homosexual lovers,” this person wrote authoritatively—without citing a chapter and verse. Most evangelical Christians would drop their jaws in bewilderment if confronted with such an odd theory. Even people with minimal knowledge of the Old Testament know that (1) David was married to Jonathan’s sister, Michal—and he had a few other wives, and (2) David’s biggest blunder was his adulterous relationship with Bathsheba—a woman he saw bathing on a rooftop. God was not happy about David’s lust or with his decision to have Bathsheba’s husband killed so he could hide his sin. |
