Six people have been killed and 600 injured in violent clashes following an opposition sit-in outside the presidential palace in Cairo in protest at the controversial draft constitution and a recent decree that granted President Morsi sweeping powers. Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) is calling on the UK government to raise concerns about both the decree and draft constitution with the Egyptian government as a matter of urgency.

In a nation that is often described as "post-Christian," a spark of revival might be on the horizon. A breeding ground of Darwinian evolution and atheism -- and more recently, spreading Islamization -- England has been recognized as falling away from its Christian heritage for generations. But recent survey results released by Oxford University indicate that a large majority is ready for a return to its Christian roots. Pastor Yousef Nadarkhani was a special guest speaker at For Such a Time as This, CSW’s National Conference in London on 10 November, where he thanked those who had prayed and petitioned on his behalf during his incarceration in Iran for almost three years.
“It is the opportunity for me to share about what the Lord did for me and to thank you because you supported me by your prayers, you supported my family in a very difficult time,” he said. Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) welcomes the announcement that Bishop Tawadrous has been selected as the 118th Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of All Africa on the Holy Apostolic See of Saint Mark the Evangelist of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, following an altar ballot at The Grand Cathedral of St Mark in Cairo on 4 November.
Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) and the Conservative Party Human Rights Commission will host a panel event at the Conservative Party Conference on 10 October, International Religious Freedom: a human right for everyone, discussing why Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is increasingly violated around the world and how to respond.
Trinity Broadcasting Network, America's favorite faith-and-family channel, is highlighting the award-winning video documentary The Cross: The Arthur Blessitt Story, produced and directed by TBN Vice President of Administration Matt Crouch, as this month's stewardship and love gift for TBN viewers and partners.
On Christmas Day 1969, Arthur Blessitt, a simple street evangelist sharing the gospel on tough and gritty Sunset Strip in Hollywood, California, began a 3,000-mile hike from the West Coast to Washington, D.C, carrying a 12-foot, 45-pound rugged wooden cross on his back. His only focus was to share with all he met what that cross symbolized: the forgiveness, hope, and healing all can find through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Bernard McGraw paused when he saw the man at the pump stacking pennies on the hood of his car.
"Hey, man -- do you have a quarter? I'm trying to buy a gallon of gas." McGraw had one. He tucked it in the man's hand, along with a business card for his Creole restaurant. "If you're hungry, please come, and I'll feed you because of the love Jesus has for me and for you.'" |
