Respected Christian leader and author James Dobson makes it clear his pro-family ministry puts the issue of life first and foremost – even if it means shutting down.

Pro-life missionaries Bud and Tara Shaver, of Project Defending Life in Albuquerque, New Mexico, have been named as recipients of the 2013 Pro-life Person of the Year Malachi Award in recognition of their outstanding work in bringing the matter of late-term abortions into the national spotlight. After an internship with Operation Rescue, the Shavers moved to Albuquerque in 2010 to expose late-term abortions at Southwestern Women's Options, one of the few abortion clinics in the nation that openly conduct abortions throughout the full nine months of pregnancy. An expert on human rights in China suggests that country's latest edict claiming it is easing up on the one-child policy shouldn't be believed. In most instances, couples in the People's Republic of China can only have one baby – but there are some exceptions. China now says it's changing the policy to permit two children, but only under certain circumstances – such as at least one parent being an only child. Previously, both parents had to be an only child to qualify for the exemption. A so-called “contraceptive” pill, which could work up to a month after unprotected sex, is a “contradiction in terms,” critics say. Researchers have published a journal article calling for such a pill to be developed, saying it is scientifically possible but politically difficult. Dr. Peter Saunders of the Christian Medical Fellowship says this would be “abortion not contraception” because it would destroy an embryo rather than prevent a conception. Cardinal Timothy Dolan is certainly right when he says that Pope Francis “wants to shake us [Catholics] up.” But is he doing more harm than good? Among his most quoted recent statements are: “I see the church as a field hospital after battle. It is useless to ask a seriously injured person if he has high cholesterol and about the level of his blood sugars. You have to heal his wounds. Then we can talk about everything else.” And, “The most important thing is the first proclamation: Jesus Christ has saved you. And the ministers of the Church must be ministers of mercy above all.” Of all the novelties that Pope Francis has brought to the Vatican, few have endeared him to the public—and unsettled his aides—as much as his penchant for picking up the phone and calling someone out of the blue. The pontiff with the pastor’s touch has phoned his cobbler in Argentina to inquire about a shoe repair, called to cancel his newspaper subscription and phoned a woman who was raped by a local police officer to counsel her. Just this week, Francis phoned a pregnant Italian woman whose fiance had pushed her to have an abortion. The United Nations is being asked to take action against family-planning policies in China that harm women and children. A formal complaint has been lodged with the UN body that deals with women's rights by Reggie Littlejohn of Women's Rights Without Frontiers. The complaint lists many violent incidents related to enforcement of the one-child policy, as well as abortions performed on the basis of gender. The educational non-profit Online for Life (OFL), which works to rescue babies from abortion so they can live to make their mark on the world, has developed an online letter, ThankWendy.com, to offer a sincere "thank you" to Texas State Sen. Wendy Davis for choosing to bear and raise her own child, even as a young single mom. Davis made national news two weeks ago for her 11-hour filibuster, which prevented a Senate bill prohibiting abortions in Texas after 20-weeks from passing. But before she donned her hot pink sneakers and became a voice for abortion supporters across the nation, Davis was a single mother at age 19. Despite also being raised by a single mother herself, Davis chose life, working hard to provide for child, attend college and eventually graduate Harvard Law School. In the war between life and death, all eyes are on Texas, as the Lone Star State legislature is poised to pass a sweeping late-term abortion ban. Gov. Rick Perry has pledged to sign the bill into law. The lines have been clearly drawn surrounding this progress toward equality and civil rights for pre-born Americans. Not surprisingly, as the pro-abortion side loses legislative battle after legislative battle, its true colors are coming into focus. Those colors are darker than many might have imagined. Pro-Abort Journalist ‘Eats Crow’ After Claiming Photo of Explicit Texas Protest Poster is ‘Fake’7/4/2013 Senior journalist for the Atlantic Wire news service, Elspeth Reeve, had to correct herself after claiming pro-lifers had faked a photo of a little girl holding a sign reading "If I wanted the Government in my womb, I would F*** a Senator!" during the Texas Capitol protest against the state’s proposed late-term abortion ban. Conservative blog Twitchy commented that Reeve has had to "eat crow" for failing to check the facts before declaring that the photo was not from the Texas demonstration. |
