It's just one more example of how a Florida pastor's passion to reach new audiences with the Gospel through comics and graphic novels has exploded into worldwide demand, taking the Christian message to multitudes of people around the globe, often in hard-to-reach nations.
Kingstone Media CEO Art Ayris calls it his "Columbus and the New World moment" -- the first week Kingstone Christian comics launched a mobile sales app -- and he saw six downloads from . . . Saudi Arabia. (See a complete list of 93 new nations touched by Kingstone Comics: on.fb.me/15qV3j2)

Vladimir Bulygin, head of the Constitutional Legislation Committee of Russia’s Federation Council [Upper House], called on the government to defend Syrian Christians to the international community. In an interview with Novosti News Agency, he said, “Syria’s Christians are in serious danger, as the world ignored crimes committed against them. Russia should speak, publicly, about this disaster in the international fora to draw the world’s attention to their suffering in Syria.” Excitement is mounting in the Olympic host city of Sochi, Russia, where the countdown clock in the central square displays fewer than 365 days until the Opening Ceremonies of the 22nd Winter Olympic Games. In February, Russian dignitaries and Olympic officials celebrated the one-year mark in the recently completed Bolshoy Ice Dome in nearby Adler. Several thousand Sochi residents gathered to watch the countdown at one of the live Olympic viewing sites in their city's downtown area along the coast of the Black Sea. Olympic officials and Sochi residents were not the only ones in the area watching as the clock clicked down to the one-year mark. Southern Baptists from Oklahoma and Georgia joined International Mission Board missionaries in the city as preparations for Olympic ministry continue. Excitement is mounting in the Olympic host city of Sochi, Russia, where a countdown clock displays the number of days until the opening ceremonies of the 22nd Winter Olympic Games slated for February 2014. Online ticket sales for sporting events as well as the opening festivities are brisk, according to several news reports. Staff members and volunteers from Baptist conventions in Oklahoma and Georgia recently spent a week with IMB missionaries in the host city to plan for the Engage Sochi emphasis. Engage Sochi is an IMB initiative that mobilizes Southern Baptists to reach the people of Sochi by sharing the gospel and planting churches. A meteor streaked across the sky and exploded over Russia's Ural Mountains with the power of an atomic bomb Friday, its sonic blasts shattering countless windows and injuring nearly 1,000 people. The spectacle deeply frightened many Russians, with some elderly women declaring that the world was coming to an end. Many of the injured were cut by flying glass as they flocked to windows to see what the reason was for such an intense flash of light. While radical Russian Muslims are fighting to take over Dagestan for Islam there are secret Christians engaging in a different type of war, a spiritual one. They are risking their own lives to capture Muslim souls one at a time. In southern Russia, on the Eastern shore of the Caspian Sea, sits Dagestan, the most dangerous province in the country. Muslims fight Russian forces almost daily to take over the province for Islam. Yet, away from the front lines, a small band of Christians secretly shares the gospel among Muslims. The IV Forum for Internet Safety will take place in Moscow on February 7 at RIA-Novosti (Russia's leading news agency). The Safe Internet Forum 2013 has been designated a World Congress of Families Regional Event and is being organized by the Safe Internet League, chaired by Denis Davydov.
Alexey Y. Komov, WCF Representative in Russia and the CIS, is a board member of the League and a keynote speaker at the Forum. U.S. officials said Israel launched a rare airstrike inside Syria on Wednesday. The target was a convoy believed to be carrying anti-aircraft weapons bound for Hezbollah, the powerful Lebanese militant group allied with Syria and Iran. Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdul-Karim Ali said Damascus "has the option and the capacity to surprise in retaliation." He said he cannot predict when the retaliation will be, saying it is up to relevant authorities to prepare for it. Over the years, many people have asked me to pray for them concerning a myriad problems and difficulties, but a request for prayer from a Christian living in mainland China was a first for me: His wife was pregnant with their second child, and with his country’s draconian one-child policy, having a second child would mean severe fines and penalties for many years to come. Would I please pray for him and for his wife? |
